Inspiration

I have been so inspired by all the fairy gardens I have seen searching the web. I love all the sweet fairy gardens I have seen. I have been so inspired by ideas that I have seen that I am going to add a lot of the ideas to my own fairy gardens.

I am trying not to get too carried away in my own fairy garden but...

...I THINK IT'S TOO LATE! Also, look at how big that lemon is!

How I Started My Fairy Garden; Repurposing

This is the top half of an old B.B.Q.
A simple glance at what you are already surrounded by can prove to be all that is needed to start your Fairy Garden. It is interesting to look at a thing with a particular purpose and imagine other possibilities for it. That is how my garden got started. Some of the things I already had in my yard and repurposed were an old B.B.Q. (as mentioned in my previous blog post), old flower pots, saucers, pavers, rocks and some solar lights.
Why stop there? I decided to search in the house and found four porcelain houses for the fairies to live in, four porcelain eggs for the fairies to sleep in and three fairies all ready to move in! There were also two bird cages (because we all know that fairies love their birds); not to keep birds locked in them, of course not, but to keep them safe from predators.

These items, found in my house, are perfect for a fairy garden.
I wasn't done yet. I also gathered two tea pots and one tea set (because I know  that fairies love their tea), a candle holder to shed some light on the fairy garden, two dragon flies to help keep them safe. I also know that fairies love shiny things, so I found some shiny crystals and mirrors to hang on the trees.

These shiny crystals and mirrors will surely attract more fairies.

Welcome to Grandma's Enchanted Fairy Garden

This is the first scene I set up in the BBQ. Most of these items were things I already
had in my house. If my garden had a theme at this point, it would be titled 'repurposed.'
I started my Fairy Garden three years ago.

I was inspired by an article I saw in a gardening magazine that featured a few lovely fairy gardens. I told my husband about it and his response was "why don't you start it in the BBQ in the backyard, by that old lemon tree?" So that is what I did; I cleaned up the area around the BBQ, dug up the dirt around the lemon tree, replaced it with wood chips and it has only expanded from there (I will have an entry detailing this repurposing at a later date).

Since then, I'm sure my husband regrets giving me the go ahead and I only have plans to expand further once I fully retire.

My family has helped me in so many ways to realize my passion for fairy gardens. My husband bought me a wonderful computer to help me connect to the world wide web and my grandchildren helped me learn about Facebook, Pinterest and my newest venture, blogging.

Through this blog I hope to connect with other fairy garden enthusiasts. I hope I can inspire people to expand or experiment with the hobby I feel passionate about and I look forward to sharing stories, photos and tips with my followers.
