Repaint, Re-purpose, Resplendent!

All those lovely purple up-cycle items from the previous post didn't start that color. All it takes is a little paint and a little time and you can personalize your garden in a unique way. Here's a video of my process.

A Collection of Up-cycles

Here's a collection of some new things that have come into my garden recently. Just wanted to give a bit of a tour.

Jessica's Dedicated Garden Space

I am finally ready to use my Christmas gift from my daughter in my garden! She gifted me this lovely miniature gardening set that included a workbench with shelving, three succulents, seed packages gloves, boots and a watering can - all the perfect size for a fairy gardener!

I purchased this greenhouse a while back and have used it in other scenes, but I knew it'd be perfect for this little scene so I cleared it out and cleared out an area of my yard to be dedicated to this scene.

How amazing is this?! Now Jessica and I can garden right alongside each other!

Food Garden Friday - In Go The Tomatoes

Just a little look at my container with Boston cucumbers and a container with brussel sprouts I planted from seed a while back. I also planted seeds in the ground of black cherry tomatoes, Amy's Apricot tomatoes and some rainbow carrots.

Haul - Green Scene Expo 2019

Here are 5 succulents I purchased from a vendor at the Green Scene Expo in Fullerton. The four purple succulents were purchased especially for a project I'm working on. The four in the front were purchased due to their unique look and the fact that I do not have them yet in my garden. Unfortunately, I don't know the names of any of these plants.

I purchased these two watering cans from the Fullerton Garden Club booth, each with drainage which would make lovely container gardens. They're represented at this event every year and I always manage to find something at their booth for my garden.

Two golden berry plants! One of the main reasons I attended this event. This plant is hard to find and I just loved the berries from my garden last year so I made sure to get to the event early. I walked directly to this booth when I arrived to find a crowd of people already after my beloved plants! I was still able to purchase two healthy golden berry plants, but I'm sure if I was an hour later, they would have all been gone. What a popular plant!

This crystal flower was purchased at a booth that sold many crystal creations ranging from flora and fauna! I was even told by my friend that the vendor has a storefront and I plan to make a trip soon.

And finally, I brought two new fairies home! These twin sisters came with their own mushroom stools, sold by the same vendor as the crystal creations.

Local Happenings: Green Scene Expo 2019

Another year, another Green Scene Expo trip with my best friend! Last year my blog post focused more on the vendors and items being sold, so this year, while I did purchase items and enjoyed the vendor section, I decided to focus more on the natural beauty of the Fullerton Arboretum.

This walkway is lined with seating and covered with beautiful flowers, making it a great spot to relax, take in the beauty and enjoy the company of your friends and nature.

The Fullerton Arboretum boasts over 26-acres of botanical gardens. I was able to manage walking the paths for at least 1.5hrs and still didn't walk them all.

The array of colors this time of year is fabulous! There are so many different plants, over 4,000 plants, making it the largest botanical garden in Orange County.

While walking near the lake, people were pointing at the water with 'ooh's and 'ahh's. At first I wasn't sure what they were seeing, until I stood still and looked hard. There were itty bitty baby turtles swimming around! There was a whole bunch of life under the surface that I may have missed if there weren't others pointing. I also saw that there was a collection of turtles on a log which I initially thought were a pile of rocks. In the photo above, there is also a family of ducks. What a great photo opportunity!

I saw these flowers and have decided this is a plant I want in my yard. Can any of My Fairy Folks help me to identify it?

Unfortunately, while I was at this event, I did learn that the future of the Fullerton Arboretum may be in danger. I was hoping to tour the Clark House but had run out of time, and now I hope it will still be there next year (if they continue to do this event, of course). I found a news article about the situation online. If you'd like to read it, click here.

Gifts for the Garden - April 2019

This month I received a few items from My Fairy Folks. First, in the center, is a beautiful fairy dressed in what looks to be a unique gown made from white Lillies. Her name is Aileen and was very excited to learn that I planted new Lillies recently.

I also received a few succulent cuttings, including some more jade.
