FAQ - Fairies Answer Questions, First Installment

Since I began this blog in July 2014, I have slowly gained subscribers with an interest in all things related to fairy gardens. I notice many of you commenting on my gardens and even mentioning that you are in the process of making your own. With the coming of the new year, I decided that it would be a good idea to use this forum as a way to communicate better with my audience through a Q and A. 

I invite all of my followers to comment on this post with any questions they might have for me about fairy gardens and even questions you might have for specific fairies (which I will pass on to them). I will try and answer your questions in a timely manner and in due time, will make a follow up blog post that will feature some questions and their answers. The fairies are very excited to play a bigger role in my blog and are ready to answer your questions!

A Look Indoor

Not all plants at Grandma's house are outside. Here is a look at a few of the flowers Grandma keeps on her window sill in the kitchen so she can admire their beauty each day, rain or shine. Notably tall are the Paperwhites on the right and the vibrantly colorful orchid is in it's second bloom under my roof.

The orchid, sneaking past the Hyacinth, seems to really like the Paperwhites; cuddling up near its stem.

When Life Gives You 'Lemon Bombs'

Nicholai, one of the few male fairies in Grandma's Fairy Garden, was a dear and helped me to capture the size of this lemon that fell from my tree by sitting on it.

One difficulty I've had in my Fairy Garden each year is 'lemon bombs.' The fairies have learned that before any fun can be had at the Winter Festival, some moving must be done of the town just under the lemon tree or else their houses might be crushed by falling, ripe lemons. This past year there was a close call; the community was so busy with the departure of the Queen and Princess on their fairy community tour and the arrival of the orphaned fairies, they hadn't been able to move anything before the first lemon bomb. Fortunately, no one was hurt and nothing was damaged, but I've decided that I need to expand my garden to ensure the safety of these fairies. I've already begun preparation and hope to be finished come April.

Winter Festival Closing

At the most recent Council meeting, it was agreed that the best new addition to the Winter Festival this year was the Elve's Candy Shop. The faeries are hoping that they can come back next year.

The elves are packing up the remainder of the shop and heading back home.

The Royals from Mountain Lakes

Queen AmberLynn and the princess sent two of their message fairies up to Mountain Lakes to invite King Edward and Queen Marlissa to the Winter Festival. Message fairies are very small and very fast, perfect for communicating with other fairy communities. Fairies do not have cell phones, you know?

It didn't take them long to arrive at Mountain Lakes. They flew in through the tiny entrance and greeted the King and Queen, telling them about the Winter Festival and inviting them to join. They were both very happy to accept the invitation.

The King and Queen gave orders to their head guard, Pico, to watch the entrance to their land while they were gone, planning to make the trip for a few days.

The King and Queen prepared their magical reindeer for the journey before saying goodbye to their community. In a flash, the reindeer took off, flying almost as fast as the messenger faeries.

They all arrived with joyful greetings and both King Edward and Queen Marlissa were very surprised by all the changes they noticed in the fairy garden since their last visit 14 months ago. While talking with Queen AmberLynn they learned that she will have new housing soon - a decision that had been put on the back burner until the rest of her community were taken care of - which she projects will be completed in April, just in time for the 2015 Magic Onion Fairy Contest.
