Local Happenings: Fairy Garden Class Returns!

If you've been with us for a while, you might remember the few meet-ups we did at Sunshine Grower's Nursery back in 2015 to create themed fairy gardens. Well, they're back!

On Saturday, January 26th at 10am we will burst into the new year with some festive miniature gardens! The $10 entry fee will give you access to a small container, potting mix, bark, moss, plants and one small fairy (however, feel free to bring your own container, fairies and decor as well). On top of all that, My Fairy Folks who reserve their spot in advance will also be able to enjoy a light snack and refreshments. But that's not all! If you see something fairy garden related in the store that catches your eye, take 20% off that day!

We will personally be available until at least 12p when we'll host a raffle for some great prizes. To be entered into the raffle you need to follow these steps:
1. Be on our emailing list. If you'd like to sign up, please email grandmasefg@gmail.com with your first and last name.
2. Register for the class. To do this, you'll need to contact Ken at Sunshine Grower's Nursery via telephone 909-797-9210.
3. Have a friend register. Make sure they tell Ken YOU referred them. If you are able to grab a friend the day of who hasn't registered but is interested, that will work too but RSVP is preferred.

If you've never attended a class before, here are some beginner tips:

• Come early. I will be in the nursery at 9am to prep and answer any questions and there will be plenty of plants and decor to ogle at and gather ideas before the class begins.
• Bring items from home. If you already have a container or decor, feel free to bring them! Sometimes it's easier to create a fairy garden with things you already know you have and love.
• Pocket money. $10 is a great deal for everything included in this class, but you should also take advantage of the 20% off sale only available this day and only for class attendants! As you saw in the video above, they've got some amazing stuff and I only captured a percentage of it. Small plants are also included in this sale.

Local Happenings: REMINDER, Fairy Garden Class

This is a reminder that my very first Fairy Garden class will be taking place in a few days. I'd also like to announce that there WILL be prizes given out to participants - as if the incentive of making your own Fairy Garden wasn't enough. If you read my blog and attend the class, please come up and say hello. I will be available after the class to answer questions and am open to general chit chat. Contest Winner Posted

Back in May I opened up a simple contest to all my readers, asking them to give my readers a "name." I announced that I would choose a winner and not only would I be using the "name" in future posts, but I would also send the winner a partial beach scene that includes a matching table, chairs and umbrella. I would like to thank everyone who submitted ideas.

Our winner wrote the following for her name submission;

Contest Clarification

I've received a handful of replies to my very first contest and would like to thank you all. The contest is still open for entries and you can enter with as many suggestions as you like but I'd like to address a mistake I may have made. Most of the entries make me believe that I may have worded the contest in a confusing way; most entries seem to be suggesting a new name for the blog which is not what I'm looking for.

So, to clarify, I am looking for a term or phrase to use to describe my followers. My granddaughter found information on wikipedia to describe fandom and I think it may explain it better than I am. You can find that information by clicking this link. This is along the lines of what I'm searching for - a title for the collective you, my readers.

Get Creative, Win A Prize

    In the last installment of FAQ, I mentioned that there was a prize to be won for any reader who could come up with the most creative name to bestow upon my group of followers. I have finally decided what that prize will be; the winner will receive the following, pictured below: two fairy beach chairs, one fairy beach umbrella and one fairy beach table - a great booster pack for anyone wanting to start their own beach fairy scene. FAQ - Fairies Answer Questions, Third Installment

It is the month of May and time to roll out our FAQ post again. Last time my readers got a little Medieval history lesson, learned about my Irises and that Grandma does not play favorites when it comes to the Fairies.

I invite all of my readers to comment on this post with any questions they might have for me about fairy gardens and even questions you might have for specific fairies (which I will pass on to them). I will try and answer your questions in a timely manner and in due time, will make a follow up blog post that will feature some questions and their answers.

In addition, the blog's anniversary is beginning to sneak up on us and I would like a little input from my readers and followers. It has been suggested that I give my readers and followers a 'name.' For example, fans of the band Kiss are called The Kiss Army, Deadheads followed The Grateful Dead and Lady Gaga's adoring fans are Little Monsters. In most instances, the fans themselves name the group as a whole so I would like some input from my readers. 

I have yet to decide, but I believe a prize will be in order for the reader who can come up with a name I like. I should have a prize decided on by the time we post the FAQ answers. Best of luck, and don't forget to post your questions.
