Garden A Day Challenge - Day 13, Humble Abode
This small terracotta pot was purchased for $1 from the Dollar Tree. The small decorative tree came to me recently from a subscription box called My Fairy Crate, found by using CrateJoy. This small house was purchased at a thrift store years ago. This container garden is a little special considering there are no live plants. This would be a very easy project to create with a child, and because there is no plant maintenance, this can easily become an indoor garden.

This tiny garden was created with clipping from my garden. I purchased the tiny terra cotta pot for $1 at Dollar Tree. All of the miniature decorations were Christmas gifts from my son and daughter-in-law.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 11, Tea Time
This unique garden is packed with soil, moss, and a succulent plant purchased for $2.50 at Home Depot. The tea cup was a gift from my granddaughter, purchased on sale at Jo-Ann. It was actually advertised as a bird feeder and was featured in a previous post filled with seeds and air plants. Most succulents (as well as most flora) are root in the ground or a container on the ground. By putting these succulents in a hanging planter, it adds character to my garden and will surprise any new visitor.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 10, Nestled in Succulents
This new path from Jo-Ann ($2 on sale) leads to a fairy home I've had for a while. While most of the succulents in this container garden are clippings from my garden, I did pay $2.50 for the clippings on the left and right (Home Depot) of the house.
I purchased this succulent (left) for its rusty color that matched with the existing cutting to the right. I also purchased this particular path specifically for the orange that fits this container theme.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 9, Weathered and Worn
I have many decorative pieces for my garden that make creating new scenes possible with little to no money. Some stay inside after a photo shoot, some stay outside in the garden and because of this, begin to show age.
This particular house above was one of the first ever purchased for what I thought would be a fun past-time that turned into a hobby that currently envelopes all my free time.
To the left is a picture of it in my humble beginnings back in 2014. It has already been repainted once but it is definitely ready for new paint. All flora in this scene are clippings from my yard.
This new path was purchased from Jo-Ann at $2 on sale. The tiny clippings that line the pathway are from my yard.
I purchased this tiny bicycle planter from Jo-Ann for $2 on sale. I feel like it needs a repaint to make it stand out more. Moss, soil and a tiny succulent cutting fill the basket to a miniature container garden inside a container garden! The pebbles were purchased at Home Depot.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 8, World Oceans Day
Today is World Oceans Day and I have a treat for My Fairy Folks. This 8th garden of the month is one piece of a big achievement. The large shell and coral were purchased from Jo-Ann recently. The layer of fire glass is the last of my supply from Home Depot (it was pretty pricey but has lasted me quite a few years in many different gardens) as well as this new container. The large chunks of sea glass are from Dollar Tree. All succulents in this scene are cuttings from my yard.
This container garden was completed last month but I had forgotten to share it. The mermaid pair are from Hobby Lobby ($8 for the pair, not on sale) and the sea shells were gifts. The large plants were purchased from the garden show I went to last month, and I have them in my garden often but can never remember the name of the darn thing.
Here is the first cleaned up area of my garden! I'm so happy to see Fairy Shores looking beautiful again. This picture is exactly why I created the Garden A Day Challenge. I can take a photo of more than one garden scene without feeling that it's cluttered or dirty.
The sea horse in the container behind the mermaids was given to me by a Fairy Follower a few years ago and is no stranger to Fairy Shores. The tin container (furthest left) and sea horse container will be spruced up soon enough but I couldn't wait to show off the actual progress I've made in just over a week. I'm so happy I was able to reveal this area just in time to celebrate World Oceans Day!

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 7, Tea For Two
All accessories in this container garden came from my personal inventory. A quaint tea for two in a secluded bit of nature.
The yellow flowers on either side are Superbells and the middle is filled with Salvia. Both of these plants and the pebbles were purchased from Home Depot just for this garden.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 6, Serene Green
These yellow flowers are from Dusty Miller clippings as well as the loose leaves that make a rug at the foot of the bed. The Dusty Miller didn't fill in the space like I wanted, so I moved over two ferns to add into this container, only for the photo (they remain in their container for repotting).
This chair was purchased 3yrs ago at Jo-Ann and has been used in many of my gardens. The bed was purchased from Michael's last year and because of the delicate lace, is not a permanent outdoor piece.
These flowers are actually in the container garden above, but are hard to see because they were almost dead after one week, despite care. Even seasoned gardeners have problems like this sometimes.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 5, Sun and Shadows
The area known as Gnominham is the first garden through the gate to my backyard. Today, I decided to focus on clearing it out as well as adding lights since it is somewhat of the welcoming committee to my garden.
Radella, a fairy council member, relaxes in a chair in the center of a cleared out area perfect for keeping an eye on the surrounding community. From this vantage point, she can keep an eye on most areas of the garden as well as enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Luca is relaxing on a log behind her, humming a sweet tune.
The sun glides slowly beyond the horizon, shadows slowly make their presence known and before the moonlight illuminates the garden, a little electricity will do for now. This Petunia-topped home has the lights on. I wonder if anyone is cooking dinner inside?
The lighted trellis behind this area almost acts as a bright welcome sign, inviting all creatures to visit this friendly, safe area.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 4, Warm Glow of Autumn
No no, we did not skip forward in time but it is time for my fourth garden of the Garden A Day Challenge.
This Autumn-themed garden was inspired by a gift I received on my 50th anniversary. My granddaughter gave me this house that comes with pumpkins, a scarecrow, and leaves on the roof scattered about by a brisk wind.
The loose pumpkins, leaves, green coverage and the wicker basket base was all from my personal inventory. The flair behind the house are also things I already owned and have used before, purchased at The Dollar Tree. That means that this garden was zero cost.
I typically don't do off-season gardens, but I felt that this one needed to be created since it was a recent gift and it has a special surprise inside.
It lights up inside! It was hard to take a picture, but there are actually figurines inside as well. This one was plugged in near the vent just for the photo so it won't stay there.
In the future I plan to make more gardens and garden accents with lights. I feel like this will give me another avenue to stretch my legs out on as well as make my garden a bit more appealing at any hour.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 3, Salvaged by Salvia
For day three of the Garden A Day Challenge, I decided to breath new life into this small terra cotta pot. The Johnny Jump Up plants were half dead and being taken over by weeds so I decided to swoop in, clean up and salvage what I could.Don't recognize the name "Johnny Jump Up"? That might be because this refers to a number of Viola species including Viola bicolor (American field pansy), Viola cornuta (tufted pansy), Viola pedunculata (California golden violet) and Viola tricolor (heartsease). This is not surprising considering that the Violaceae family has nearly 600 species in it, one of the most predominant being the Viola. Thank you, Wikipedia.
I am a big fan of this plant and am happy to have been able to salvage a few bits.
A closer look at this garden is necessary to see the micro decorations. I typically use miniature items to decorate my fairy gardens but my son and daughter-in-law gifted a set of micro fairy garden accessories, a portion of which is shown in this scene. This discovery has certainly opened a new door of possibilities to me in my effort to continue to put my creativity to the test! The black pebbles are from the Dollar Tree and the sea glass was something I already had.
What a lovely new home for my salvia plant purchased from Home Depot.

Garden A Day Challenge - Day 2, Pixie Cottage
This container garden is a mix of gifted items and re-purposing existing items. The container was gifted to me by one of My Fairy Folks recently. Once filled with soil, I transferred some plants from my food garden. The yellow backdrop was purchased from a discount store a while back which I'd repainted to stand out more. The house and path were items I already had. All other decorations were gifted to me by my daughter.
This happy flower will direct you to neighboring locations. These locations don't exist yet in my garden but you can be sure that they will soon enough.
This sign has a warning for all who pass by which is emphasized by the chunk that has seemingly been bitten out of it!
The flying bees, tiny flowers, shoes and fashionable boots add a little extra personality to this small cottage and tell a little bit about who might live here.
