Children at Play Series - Pt 4: Fairy Critters

Recently I went camping with my granddaughter and her friend. I brought along supplies so they could create their own container garden. Grandma can create a fairy garden no matter where she is! This container was made by my granddaughter.

These containers were from the 99 Cents Only store. We drilled drainage holes in the bottom before filling them with potting soil from Home Depot.

This array of plants was also purchased at Home Depot. Here's a tip on creating a beautiful container garden - you want to have three types of plants; thriller, filler and spiller. The 'thriller' is the large center piece that is the main focus. The 'filler' is smaller and surrounds the centerpiece, taking up empty space, and the 'spiller' is the shortest plant which will spill over the side of the container. This equation leads to eye-catching displays.

This container has a few fairy critters in it. The girls also decided to use pinecones they found during a hike.
