Celebrating the Holidays

This season, Grandma suggested that the Fall and winter holidays be stretched longer and share decorations, so here is a fairy garden container that is decorated to represent Halloween and Christmas.

Snowmen only visit during the winter. This one is dressed in a hat and scarf.

At the first sight of snow, Jezelle pushed some snow together, grabbed a sled and tried her best.

This snowman prides himself on his fashion sense.

Celebrating Mother's Day

Mother's Day this year is May 8th. To all the mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and anyone else who has had a hand in raising a child; here's to recognizing your efforts in supporting our futures. Pictured above is my most recent picture of Princess Jezelle and Queen AmberLynn.

Happy Mother's Day.

Mad Scientist's Haunted Mansion

Jezelle was invited to join Laura for tea and got caught up in some spooky gossip. Laura asked "did you hear what happened to Grace and Gwendelyn the night they were invited to the Mad Scientist's Haunted Mansion?" Jezelle almost spit her tea out! "No, tell me!"

"Well, Grace and Gwendelyn were sent an invitation to come visit a large mansion. They knew the man who owned it was a scientist but only found out later that he was mad! Okay, so they both get there, knock on the door and it opens but no one is inside. They walk in and ask "is anyone here?" but no one answered. They ask again, louder, and this time someone says "hello, thank you for coming." They don't see anyone. They call out "who's there?" and the voice replies "it's me, Dexter." Grace and Gwendelyn walked around the room and still couldn't see anyone. Grace asked "where are you? I can't see you."

"I had a little accident in the lab," the scientist said "and it turns out that I'm invisible." How crazy is that!? They reluctantly went on a tour of the house with an invisible guide and even got to see his lab with all his potions and experiments. The further up in the mansion they went, the more they feared they would be unable to find their way back out if they needed to make a run for it. Grace was worried the two of them might end up part of an experiment, or even turned invisible.

They were finally taken to a large room where a big feast was laid out. "Please, take a seat," the scientist said. Grace and Gwendelyn looked at each other, concerned, and Grace wisely said "we need to wash up first, can we use your bathroom?" He told them where it was and they managed to find a window that they could squeeze out of to escape whatever fate may have been in store for them!"

"Wow," said Jezelle. "That's scary. I guess the moral of that story is to really be careful with who you visit and make sure you know them. Good thing they went together." She slowly sipped the rest of her tea.

Grace's Secret and The King's Interview

Here is a photo of Grace when she
first arrived in our community.
The fairies made an interesting discovery recently. Do you remember Grace? She always seemed to be in the background at community events and I wrote it off as her being shy. Well, one day just after taking some new guests on a tour of the gardens, Princess Jezelle spotted Grace hidden among the greenery with a notebook and pencil in hand. Grace seemed to be writing about what she was seeing. Jezelle decided to snoop a bit and got closer. Grace must have been deep in thought because by the time she noticed Jezelle, the Princess was right in front of her!

When questioned, Grace blushed, embarrassed she had been caught but admitted that she had always loved to write but sometimes didn't have anything to write about. When she arrived here and saw how busy and active people were, Grace decided to keep a running journal about things that happen here in the community.

This caught Jezelle's interest and she asked to read through the journal. As she read, the Princess' face emitted emotions captured in the journal; some moments were sad but most were happy. Jezelle closed the journal and looked at Grace quietly for a moment before her eyes lit up.

"Brilliant!" shouted the Princess. Grace was understandably confused but Jezelle explained. "We've never had a writer here before and I think this is just what the community needs, and what great timing! My father and brother have just returned and you will interview them, gather information about their travels and write them down for a Fairy Newsletter!"

Grace blinked a few times, processing the information. It was all happening so fast and this is exactly what she'd always wanted to do so it only took her a few seconds to jump back to reality and agree to take the job, with a big smile on her face.

Grace sits down with the King for their very first interview.

The King agreed to an interview, stating that it would be an easy way to let the community know about his journey and what he learned without leaving anything out.

He, of course, enjoyed all the fairy communities he visited around the world and took note of the differences. He not only learned about other fairy cultures, but also about the culture of other beings around the globe.

"As you see, we have so many wonderful visitors from around the world that I visited; Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Germany, Russia, China and Korea. We didn't visit every country but one can't expect to see the world all at once. I extended an invitation to every fairy community I traveled, that they come visit our community in return. It was, of course, an open invitation and while some couldn't make it for this King's Festival, I hope that they will come visit soon. But those who managed to come have all proven themselves to be wonderfully talented entertainers!"

Grace, full of curiosity and intuition, asked about the guest that the King and Prince had arrived with.

"Oh! That's Czz! He's a comedian and he comes from Russia. When I met him, he had me laughing so hard that I cried! I love that he can find humor in any situation. I'm so happy he was able to join me on the last leg of my journey back home."

Czz (pronounced See-Zee) always has a big smile on his face and hearty laugh in his chest.

Grace asked a few more questions and had many more to ask, but she knew that the King wanted to get back to the celebration and asked to do a follow up interview later before putting together her very first fairy newsletter.

Royal Family Reunion

Bright and early this morning I heard a tapping on my window. I pulled back the shades to see King Cormac Mac Fidaig's rosy, bearded face smiling through the glass. I rushed outside with my camera to capture the reunion of the royal family. In this photo, Queen AmberLynn is captivated by the King's recollection of the months of travel. Doesn't it look like she has missed him?

At the same time, Princess Jezelle pestered her brother for details on his long trip. Prince Finn could not explain things fast enough! Jezelle asked many questions. What a wonderful opportunity her brother has experienced!

Jezelle moves in close to whisper the question that the community will surely be asking; "did you find a wife?" A sly smile crawled across Little Mac's face and he left his sister in suspense.

Guests Arrive Daily

Guests continue to pour in as the King's arrival nears. Jezelle (right) does her royal duties to show the guest from Germany, Nettie, around the community. Whitey the rat accompanied the two. Even though fairies can fly, sometimes it's nice to just walk or ride, especially to better connect with nature. It looks like these two fairies are getting along well; Jezelle talks about how excited she is for her brother and father's return and Nettie describes her home town and culture. The princess has learned so much about other cultures around the globe thanks to all the new visitors.

While Jezelle was showing Nettie around, another group of guests arrived. Pegasus (left) grooms his son, Pegasus Jr., after the long journey from Greece. Eunice admires the close relationship her husband and son have. The three patiently wait to receive their tour of the community, being greeted by other fairies in the meantime.

Spring Festival

The Spring Festival is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. So many have arrived and more are still to come!

A few of the guests entertain themselves, awaiting the arrival of the Queen and Princess.

This year's celebration is held in Teapot Glen. The decorations add a burst of color.

Princess Jezelle arrives in a carriage decorated to represent Spring, pulled by two dragons that are handled by Brittania.

Queen AmberLynn converses with the guests from Ireland.

Another photo of the colorful decorations put up in Teapot Glen.

These young fairies patiently wait for the Easter Egg hunt that Grandma put together for them, wanting to share her Spring traditions as well.

The Gnomes From Woodland Grove, Part 4 - Green Greets the Queen

Bright and early the following day, Patrick made a visit to Queen AmberLynn. They had a nice long chat about the exhausting journey of yesterday as well as the wonderful time he and his tribe had when King Mac came to visit in South Ireland. Patrick also told the Queen about the agreement made to arrive to her community early to offer help in finalizing any construction and to help other guests from around the world travel through the rainbow (the fastest way to travel) in time to celebrate the grand arrival of the King in August. Patrick was inspired by King Mac's journey with the Prince and decided that his own son could learn about leadership and goodwill during this trip.

Queen AmberLynn and Patrick the Leprechaun have a lengthy conversation amongst the flowers.

Meanwhile, Princess Jezelle was far too curious about the new arrivals to stay away. Ryan, Brianna and Liam heard a knock at the door and were greeted by Jezelle's smile. She shook the hand of each of them, introduced herself and welcomed them to the community, remembering to be polite and princess-like. After a bit of talking though, she let down her royal personality and became an excited young fairy, eager to learn about Ryan and his homeland. Jezelle had never been to Ireland and wanted to know all about it.

Jezelle listens, captivated by Ryan's stories about Ireland.

Time flew by and before they knew it, Patrick was back from his visit with the Queen. He informed the others that everything had been decided on; Ryan and Patrick would begin helping with construction tomorrow, Brianna would be in charge of teaching herbal medicine at the community school and Liam would meet with the Queen to make a guest list and prepare travel plans.

Everyone is excited to learn that they all have a job to do in this community.

Grandma heard of the news and was also excited to hear that the new arrivals had already found ways to help in the community. Patrick apologized to Grandma for his initial outburst yesterday and complimented her on her garden. Patrick had also learned from AmberLynn about Grandma's blog so he wanted to send a message to her readers:
"The luck of the Irish be with you."
Happy St. Patrick's Day

Winter Festival

Queen AmberLynn and her daughter Jezelle have returned from their tour of other fairy communities. Many fairies have gathered to welcome them home.

The two are quite pleased with the festive decorations adorning the Queen's Throne area.

Happy the Snowman, Geraldine and Gerald (L to R) help to add more presents under the tree.

Fairies have begun to exchange their presents. Samm and Tink are ready to open theirs, Rose is watching the train go round the tree, the younger fairies are playing in the snow and Grace is hiding amongst the ferns, watching everyone enjoying the celebration.

Violet and Roselynn are ready to munch on the Gingerbread house they made, but not before offering some to the rest of the community.

The Care of Dragons

Brittania sits down with Princess Jezelle to discuss how to care for dragons. It is currently feeding time as you can see by the orange pellets on the ground.

Lucky spends time with his parents before they leave to take the Queen and the Princess on a month-long tour of other fairy communities.

The carriage is ready to leave, the dragons have said their goodbyes to Lucky and are just waiting on the Queen and Princess.

Queen AmberLynn thanks Brittania for passing on some of her knowledge to Princess Jezelle. They all hope the information will come in handy on their month-long trip. The Queen is sure to remind Brittania that they will be back in time for the upcoming holiday celebration.

The Queen's Courtyard

Welcome to the Queen's Courtyard. Here you see Queen AmberLynn overseeing the community meeting which is addressing the ups and downs of the Halloween Festival and discussing plans for the upcoming Holidays.

The Fairy Council shares with the rest of the leaders and community representatives what they felt were the pros and cons of the Halloween Festival.

Rose, Tink and Samm suggest that the next holiday celebration be a little more watered down than the Halloween Festival extravaganza. Perhaps then everything will go smoothly.

Andy the Scarecrow sits next to the young fairies Nicholai, Bitsy and Johnny Jump (L to R) who also have opinions on this matter.

Queen AmberLynn does her best to set a good example for her daughter, Princess Jezelle, hoping she will pay attention to the way a Queen runs community meetings since Jezelle will be expected to at some point in the future.

Jezelle had every intention to listen well, but Mr. Blue the Peacock would much rather play and is becoming a distraction.

Despite her efforts, Jezelle finally gives in and loses concentration on the meeting to play with Mr. Blue.

Brittania, Keeper of the Dragons, listens intently whilst Mr. Smokey snuggles up at her feet. Lucky looks on, a bit jealous of the attention Mr. Smokey is getting, but too stubborn to vie for affection.

September Picture Day In My Garden

Of all the fairies, Jezelle was the most excited to hear that it was picture day and was first in line!

I can never get a picture of Zoe-Zoe awake. Other fairies say it's because she is up all night.
I wonder how many other fairies in my garden are nocturnal?

Meet Sue and Bobby (L to R). They are the best of friends and never leave each other's side.

I took this photo of June while she was busy picking fresh mushrooms for lunch.
By the look of her face, it looks like she's already eaten a few.

April's favorite thing to do is pick flowers.
I've promised her I plant more flowers in my garden within the next few months.

Jeremy, left, and sister Prudence pose for their picture, both with a different approach;
can you tell which sibling is the shy one?

Either Loopy was in a rush to put on her makeup for photo day or she ate a bad mushroom. That's our Loopy!
